Kemmannugundi Hill Resort
The word literally means red soil pit if the words Kempu, Mannu and Gundi are split. It is called so because of the red soil bed that is brilliant for growing certain crops, coffee plants and more.
It used to serve as the summer resort of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV earlier, who later on donated the gorgeous property to the Karnataka Government, Department of Horticulture.
Yes, it is also popularly called the Sri Krishnarajendra Hill Station. Now, recently as per government orders, Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd., has taken over the operation and management of the guest houses and restaurant at Kemmanagundi from 1st March 2021.

Kemmannugundi is 53 km from Chikkamagaluru, 17 km from Lingadahalli and 71 km from Shivamogga by road- The nearest National Highways, NH-206 or NH-48, connect to Bangalore. There is another route via Mullayyanagiri and Attigundi, a scenic drive.

The nearest railway station is 33 km away at Tarikere, Birur& Kadur.
